My neighbor's system went out and had the local expert out to do the warranty. Determined that the TXV failed and caused the indoor and outdoor coils to leak...
The tech came out today to change the coils. In talking to my neighbor the guy spent several hours trying to braze the coil in and had to give up. They are sending their 'ACE Tech" out tomorrow to solve all the problems. He burnt a couple of holes through the tubing. I went over when I got home and one of the fittings looks like a buzzard took a dump on it. There is braze dripping down the pipe (3/4) about 2 inches! The whole section looks like it was charbroiled.
I asked if he flowed nitrogen and he said no. The only tanks he had was the oxy-acetylene rig... I would hate to guess how dirty the inside of the pipe is as rough as the outside looks and as long as he had heat on it.
I guess I'm just surprised at this type of service from a big name....
