I want to replace the old sheet vinyl flooring in a bathroom. The room has two doors, one from a hallway and one from the master bedroom. The door from the hallway opens inward (to the bathroom) and the other door opens outward (toward the bedroom). The bedroom has carpeting.
When the builder installed this original flooring, the visual result at the bottom of the two doors is different due to the difference in the way the doors open. So, when closed, the carpet in the hallway does not show at the bottom of the door. The door to the bedroom, on the other hand, does show some carpet at the bottom when closed. The two attached photos show the difference.
I think I would like to eliminate this difference when I replace the flooring by trimming 2-3" of carpet at the doorway to bedroom so that it also does not show the carpet (or whatever future flooring is in the bedroom) when the door is closed. What would you do?
