Whirlpool washer 3954578 won't start. hums and drips

Hi all, I have a whirlpool washer 3954578 is the part number on the wiring diagram, that just stopped. My wife says it was leaking so I pulled the tub and bypassed the lid. Ran for a while then stopped. Now it won't run anymore, makes a humming sound and water drips when I turn it to run. Any chance that bypassing the lid switch I might have blown a fuse? FYI the model number under then lids is 8280869
